Szöszmötölő - SlowArt&FiberCraftClub
We have been hosting 'Szöszmötölő' (Mindful Crafting) sessions for years, but now we are offering it in a renewed format: the 'Szöszmötölő' Club – Slow Art & Fiber Craft Community is being born, and to make it a true community, we need you!
Our vision is to create a permanent creative base that serves as a steady point in your calendar—just like our NyitottMűhely (Open Studio) does for those who draw and paint. Here, "Slow Art" is put into practice: we don’t chase quick successes. Instead, we take our time to deeply master techniques and enjoy the meticulous, detail-oriented phases of crafting.
What does this mean for you?
You don't have to commit to just one technique. In the Club, you have the opportunity throughout the year to explore or dive deep into various fiber and textile arts: crochet, embroidery, bead embroidery, punch needle, and modern textile methods.
Mentored crafting: You can bring your own stalled projects, but if you're out of ideas, we always prepare current patterns and provide professional guidance.
Professional base: We help you read and interpret patterns, correct technical mistakes, and handle tools with confidence.
Tools & Materials
We provide the professional background and technical basics. Our goal is for you to focus solely on the rhythm of creating, not the logistics. We supply all basic tools (crochet hooks, embroidery hoops, measuring tapes, scissors) and materials (basic yarns, fabrics, threads) for the sessions. You can freely use these to experiment, learn, and try out new techniques.
If you already have a specific project in mind, or if you envision a special color or texture of yarn, beads, or fabric for it, definitely bring it along! You can always combine the studio's supplies with your own materials, ensuring the final piece is exactly as you dreamed it. And if you get stuck while shopping for supplies or need advice on making the right choice, we are happy to help you navigate the options!
Flexibility
And what might be truly important: we offer flexibility! Your 4-session pass is valid for a calendar month, and we provide full crossover access between our two studios. This means you can adjust your crafting to your schedule, and pick up the thread at whichever location suits you best! :-)

What is the 'Szöszmötölő' Club?
The 'Szöszmötölő' (Mindful Crafting) Club is a permanent creative base that serves as a steady point in your calendar—just like our NyitottMűhely (Open Studio) does for drawing and painting enthusiasts. Here, "Slow Art" is put into practice: we don’t chase quick successes. Instead, we allow time for the deep mastery of textile and crafting techniques, and for the meticulous, detail-oriented phases of creation. Whether it's the rhythm of a crochet hook, the delicate stitches of embroidery, or the precision of a punch needle, this club is a supportive space where technical knowledge meets quality, slowed-down leisure time.
Is it just an ordinary craft circle?
No, it’s much more than that. The Slow Art & Fiber Craft Community is a professionally grounded base where you are never left alone with your stalled projects. Alongside the community experience, our focus is on real progress, accurately deciphering patterns, and mastering professional techniques. We don't just "get creative"; we provide mentored guidance to help you handle tools and materials with confidence.
Who is it for?
The club is designed for adults (and students 14+) for whom creating isn't just a fleeting interest, but a continuous, quality pastime. It is the perfect choice if you love working with yarn and textiles (or want to learn), but often find yourself stuck trying to follow online videos or complicated written patterns. It’s also ideal if you are simply looking for a calm, inspiring community where you can step away from the weekly rush and dedicate time to your hobby.
What does the Club offer?
We provide not just a space, but a true professional and community base for mindful crafting:
Mentored crafting: Bring your own half-finished or stalled project, but if you're out of ideas, we always prepare current patterns and guidance.
Multiple techniques: Throughout the year, you can switch between crochet, embroidery, bead embroidery, punch needle, and other modern textile methods. You don't have to commit to just one direction!
Problem-solving: We help you interpret complex patterns, count stitches, and correct technical mistakes.
Focused, Slow Art creation: Deep, meticulous studio work where textures and the creative process take center stage.
Community experience: Mindful crafting provides the perfect framework for shared thinking, knowledge exchange, and friendly conversations.
Application and Participation
Currently, the Club is available in one time slot per location. Participation requires the advance purchase of a pass via our website (there are no on-site ticket sales). The e-invoice received after purchase serves as your confirmation.
Your 4-session pass is valid for a calendar month and provides full crossover access between our two studios! The pass is transferable to another person, but its validity period cannot be extended: it can be used for 4 sessions between the first and last day of a given calendar month. With your pass, you can freely choose between our locations, adapting to your schedule and picking up the thread at whichever studio suits you best. :-)
Currently available time slots:
MűMű9: Tuesdays 18:00 - 20:00 (Budapest, District 9, Üllői út 57. - Corner of Páva utca)
MűMű17: Thursdays 18:00 - 20:00 (Budapest, District 17, Rákoskeresztúr city center, Ferihegyi út 62.)
How does a session work?
Arrival: We recommend arriving on time so you can comfortably settle in and prepare your materials.
Consultation: At the beginning of the session, you briefly discuss your goals with the mentor: where you are in your project, what today's objective is, or what new pattern you'd like to start.
Crafting: The mindful crafting begins! Everyone works on their own project (or the shared club pattern), while the yarns and needles dictate the pace.
Correction and Help: Your mentor monitors your work. If you get stuck in a pattern, drop a stitch, or feel unsure about a technique, they immediately help you move forward.
Your Own Pace: There is no rush, and you don't have to adapt to anyone else. Deep immersion is the goal here.
What to bring? (Tools & Materials)
We provide the professional background and technical basics. Our goal is for you to focus solely on the rhythm of creating, not the logistics.
We supply all basic tools for the sessions (crochet hooks in various sizes, embroidery hoops, punch needles, measuring tapes, scissors). You can freely use these to experiment and learn. For absolute beginners, we also provide a limited amount of practice materials (thread, test yarn, practice fabric) for the first few sessions to help you master the basics.
For your specific, personal projects, you need to bring your own materials (your chosen yarn, fabric, or beads). This is important because crafting is highly personal: bringing your own materials guarantees that the color, texture, and quality will be exactly as you dreamed. If you get stuck while shopping, don't know what yarn fits a specific pattern, or need advice on the right fabric, we are happy to help you navigate the options on-site!
Loved the #MűMűExperience?
If you feel like creating again after the crafting sessions, we warmly welcome you back—the MűMű repertoire includes many other themes and sessions (such as our drawing and painting NyitottMűhely / Open Studio, or our relaxed Paint Nights).
Please note: Photographs may be taken during our sessions. We ask for your consent during the application process. If you do not wish to be in the photos, please let us know, and we will naturally respect your request.
